Happy 2012 beauties!

December 30, 2011

My kitty Xu says HAPPY MIEW YEAR!

New year’s approaches, and with that comes both reflections of this past year and aspirations of the one to come.

2011 was a crazy year, wasn’t it? Numerous revolutions and occupations worldwide have proved that we’ve all become a little restless and dissatisfied with the status quo, and hey, that’s ok. It’s good to fight for what you believe in, and for what you want. It’s a sign of passion and love when one simply cannot settle for less than what they deserve.

2011 also proved that people still have a big heart for the little guy. Big corporations and greediness are no longer accepted, and the handmade (WELL made) revolution continues to grow. This is great news for all of us little companies out there. It can be hard to compete with big brands sometimes, so it’s good to feel the love.

2011 was a bit of a crazy ride for us at Stark as well, and although we’re a little behind schedule for our launch, we’re really happy about the reasons why. Sometimes, good things —better things- come to those who wait. Yeah, it was a wait due to some silly circumstances, as well as an unplanned trip to the middle east for both Adri and I, but once all the pieces began to fall into place…boy oh boy, those pieces fell with with perfectly imperfect beauty. Like free jazz or cubism or something.

I’m so excited to show off the new line. Those of you who have been with me since day one will be really happy to see how it has shaped up! It’s beyond me, I love it so much.

If 2012 will shape up to be anything like 2011, then I think it’ll be one hell of a year.

Want to know my 2012 resolutions/goals? Ok, here are a few:

  • I’m going to force myself to do a minimum of 3 spa treatments this year. I love going to the spa, it makes me feel fresh and new, and it’s kiinnndaaa part of the job description, right?
  • I’m going to take more risks (and therefore learn to trust myself more).
  • I’m going to visit 3 countries (even if they’re repeats).
  • I will allow myself to indulge myself a little more, and buy the Frye boots I’ve always wanted. Life is too short to not have amazing footwear.
  • I’m going to take time for myself every day to do yoga and meditate and journal.
  • I’m going to create an inspiration board (might start that right now in fact!)
  • I’m going to work on my Spanish and my French.
  • I will try not to be such a hermit and get out more often, even if it’s just to my favourite local cafes ( I love working from home, but I don’t need to take it so literally!).

Seems like a lot, but many are things I’m already pretty invested in. Hmm, looks like I’ll have to start choosing exactly which boots and which spa treatments to indulge in. 🙂
